Drug & Alcohol Testing Process

Our robust approach to workplace drug & alcohol testing means that will give you peace of mind, and ensure that the process stands up to scrutiny. The final laboratory confirmation result that we deliver is a legally defensible drug test result.

Here is an overview of the process we follow:

On-site screening

We begin each drug test by interviewing the employee, we will establish their identity and what prescription and non-prescription (over the counter) medication they have taken, and when this was taken. Once the employee has completed the declaration they will be asked to produce a urine sample.

The urine sample will be screened for drugs of abuse, and a breath sample for alcohol will be obtained. If the on-site screening is positive for alcohol and/or drugs of abuse then the employee’s sample will be carefully packaged in accordance with Chain Of custody (COC) standards. We will inform the appropriate person at your organisation, and whilst awaiting the outcome of the laboratory confirmation you may choose to suspend the employee.

Laboratory Screening & Confirmation

The laboratory will not be aware of the result we determined on-site, and will carry out their own screening of the urine sample. If the laboratory identify the presence of alcohol and/or drugs of abuse they will then carry out a confirmatory “test. The confirmatory test is the final stage in the process, and the outcome of this confirmatory test is legally defensible.
